Such a sad, tragic moment.

Today was all about fun, supposedly. I went with my friend to SMX for the Book Fair. And since I am an avid reader, and I love books, I just HAD to go and check the fair out. I did manage to snag a couple of books, AND was having real fun despite feeling tired already, and was planning to buy two more when I realized, at the counter, that my bag was open, and my wallet was missing.

This day is bittersweet. Know why?

Because last night, I just got my very own laptop.

I was planning to be absent earlier today because my head really hurt and I didn’t sleep last night again. But then, some miraculous thing happened and it was announced that we didn’t have class. WOOOOOOOOOOOOT. So yeah, I was lucky.

We got major projects coming up again, eugh. I’m still working on designs for the 9th Philippine Fine Jewelry Design Competition 2009 held by the PDDCP (The Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines) that we were required to join. It’s hassle because we have to draft specifications to SIX(6) designs and were given very little time. But fine, I guess it is a great opportunity to get exposure.

Certain high schools suspended their afternoon classes because of the rain; it’s gonna be really rainy this coming weeks, huh? Sigh, I want sembreak to come already.

I almost forgot! I just watched this really interesting talk on a site that my friend posted on Facebook: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/helen_fisher_tells_us_why_we_love_cheat.html

It is about why we LOVE and CHEAT. Interesting, right? I’ll summarize a part for you:

• In one person who LOVES, there are three parts; romantic love, sex drive, and attachment. (1 love = romance + lust + attachment)
• She says that by part, sex evolved to get you to look for a whole range of sexual partners, love evolved so that we can focus on one person, and attachment evolved so that we can tolerate that person for a long period of time.
• But the danger is that this can come in separate packages: we can feel deep attachment to a longtime boyfriend, for example, and have feelings of unquenchable romantic love for another. And we can lust after someone who’s alluring, and all the while loving someone else.

GET IT? …and this is why we cheat! There were a lot of loopholes in the whole talk, I think. But it’s really educational too, in a sense. So, once again, the link — CLICK!

Oh, I just woke up from sleeping so I haven’t gotten any lunch yet, and boy, am I hungry! I’ll get something to eat now~

I haven’t slept for two days — HOORAH XD combine all that with the hectic day I had today, bam! No more energy.

FAIL DAY today too:

1. I spilled Jjampong soup on my uniform (which I got to clean, fortunately).
2. I spilled Beef’nMushroom sauce on my slacks (which was annoying :|).
3. I stepped on mud, as in deep gooey mud.
4. I got BnM sauce again on my uniform, but I don’t know how they got there this time.
5. It got so cold inside the classroom that, for the first  time, I wanted to give up trying to be warm and just ran outside, HAHA.
6. I got two PERMANENT pink dots on my cheeks from the mask I wore. AS IN Pukka-like dots, and as in permanent ones which cannot be erased by water. I had to cover it up with make up. FAIL.

…and now my eyes are all droopy. Whoa. Maybe I should be sleeping now, huh?

A LOT has happened actually… as in, DUH, I’ve been gone for so long. But I think that an account of all that would just be cluttery and just plain boring. So, I was thinking that it’d be great if I just picked up where I left off.

Like, for example, how I’m still up at 4:52 am (right this minute) because I’ve been slacking off again and I need to do some catching up with my school work, bah! There is simply no excuse for my laziness. I can’t even believe I have the nerve to blog (and RETURN to blogging, that is) when I have so much other stuff to do. So me.

Oh, and I just read this blog entry from I-don’t-know-who-anymore (I’m sorry, I got a bit lost in the blog-world again) which talked about this HORRIBLE dude who takes pleasure in letting out his frustrations on cats by torturing them (eventually killing one of them, how sad). Eugh. How inhumane is that?! Apparently, he had the guts to write a blog about this certain gory event, which garnered a lot of hate responses. This is a shot of the blog entry from Google Cache, psycho dude who kills cats for pleasure; and this is only a shot, by the way, because he had to turn the entry private for obvious reasons – way too much people who added him on their to-murder list. Just wait for it to load, zoom, and read! Hate on him too, if you want. You will want to hate him, you’ll see.

Moving on. I am sooo addicted to Adobe Photoshop CS4 right now like there ain’t no tomorrow. Tss. I keep downloading brushes and actions, and then I keep on trying to edit and create. Finally, I’m supposed to be writing this article about How Art Destroys Man (yes, that’s what i really SHOULD be doing right now), and I am leaning on writing about the pornography commercialized in our world today. But I’m stuck. I have my introduction and bits of the body, but I don’t know how to connect them to make an effective paper. Oh well. Maybe you, my fellow bloggers, have any suggestions about this topic? About what else I could write about other than pornography? Hit me up.

See, my calming techniques are playing all sorts of PC games (Silent Hill Homecoming, Jojo’s Fashion Show, Ranch Rush, Cake Mania 3, Facebook Fashion Wars/ Mafia Wars/ Vampire Wars/ Rock Legend, etc)… HAHA!

I miss my blog. And hopping. Sorry I haven’t hopped lately on your blog babies — it’s just that, like before, I’m staying away from the endless blogging time I HAVE to consume once I start “blogging”. So yeah, this is going to be short. Or not.

So I watched Confessions of A Shopaholic (which is a movie based on a best selling novel by Sophie Kinsella, if you didn’t know) recently and really liked it!

Ahem: Those who say that Hugh Dancy as Luke Brandon is a miscast, well I wanted to ask, WHY?! He’s perfect for the role. Wala lang, gwapo naman siya eh…right? I mean he has this charm. hahaha. Soooo anyway, the ultimate moral lesson of the whole movie is that you shouldn’t give material things so much importance because there comes a time when you lose sight of what really matters. What’s really ironic about this TRUE fact is that after I watched the movie, I wanted to shop! LOL. I’d say, go watch it! It’s a good movie :D p.s. DO NOT COMPARE IT TO THE BOOK, PLEASE.

I was planning to do (and post) all the trivia thingies I “collected” but since I haven’t much time, I’ll do it next time. [Okay, Angel? hehe] I’ll get to that when finals time is over *cross fingers*.

Oh by the way, thanks to Janile for this cute gift! HAHA, I feel mushy :)) I’m actually planning a little something for my blog, so watch out okay?:D

In school, I have a LOT of requirements that still needs finishing…argh, all I need is a little motivation to get off my fat lazy butt. GRRR. I am frustrated with, who else, me and myself. Oh well, 2 weeks to go — ONE FINAL STRETCH.

I continue to go over and over it inside my head, like a broken recorder, playing that clip again and again: A woman, on her late 50s, talked (I don’t know if that’s the word for it, more like pleaded, I think) to us while me and my friends were walking on our way back to our building.

“Mga iha, may alam ba kayong mga pwedeng blood donors dito? Sige na, kelangan lang talaga…”

Nakakapagtaka diba? Completely dazed and unsure, we were like, “Ano po un uli…?”

“Blood donors. Kung makakapagdala daw po ako ng anim na blood donors, hindi ko na kelangan magbayad. Wala akong pambayad eh…” Okay, imagine an old frail-looking woman, talking to you, pleading, getting teary-eyed and already very tired from the looks of it.

“Eh kung magbabayad naman daw po ako, kelangan ko daw po ng P800, wala naman po akong makukuhaan ng ganung halaga. Sige na po, baka naman po may kilala kayo…?”

We didn’t know how to react and as for me, my mind was turning like crazy at this moment: I was watching my friends’ reactions. I was wondering whether this was true or not. I was thinking whether I should just go and donate blood or what. I didn’t know what to think.

“Sige na po… para po sa anak ko. Kanina pa po ako naglalakad dito…”

During the course of these moments, my friends and I were contemplating on the idea of donating blood ourselves but there were only four of us. One was anemic (so she can’t donate), one was afraid, one didn’t react to it so I don’t really know and then there’s me [well, I had the inexplicable urge to consult my mom on this, ha!] XD

“Ano po bang sakit ng anak niyo?“

“Leukemia po. Nag-iisa kong anak…”

Well I can’t actually tell you everything that’s happened, I’m not so sure myself. But to make the kind of long story short, my friends decided to give her money. Yes, they wanted to give her 800php!

My head was a serious jumble. I don’t think my face showed any kind of reaction at that moment, really. It was like I’m still trying to decide whether to believe her or not. Because if she was just acting, then she’s a VERY good con artist, I tell you. So anyway, in a sense, I was the voice of reason.

“Sure kayo, we give her exactly P800?” That’s super big an amount, right?

So in the end, we gave her P500, which resulted to a very tear jerking reaction (REALLY). “Nako…wala po akong pambayad dito -sniff-”, she cried and wiped it with her bimpo (towel), “Nako po…salamat. Salamat po talaga–” More tears, “Hayaan niyo po -sniff- babayad dinako sa inyo”, this was a very heart felt moment where her tears flowed freely, “salamat talaga…hindi niyo alam– SALAMAT.” This moment was the most convincing of them all.

Of course there are a lot of factors to consider here, wonder whether or not it was real… whether she was telling the truth or not. Whether she just fed on the pity and sympathy we instantly gave her. Our only consolation, our only source of peace of mind, is the fact that we know we did our part and we had the intention of helping, if she was lying then that’s on her tab, her conscience, her life. Putting it into my friends words, “basta tumulong tayo, kung hindi man totoo ung mga sinabi niya at niloko niya lang tayo, siya nang magdadala nun…”

I consider this moment in my life to be both dramatic and utterly… surreal. Pwede kaming tawaging good samaritans, hahaha. It was like something out of a movie — literally.

PRE-VALENTINE Highlights of February: (so far)

• I got to avail the 1-week FREE TRIAL of the gym in Edsa Shangri-la. MWAHAHAHAHA! When my friend offered me this treat, I instantly said yes. I mean, duh, it’s FREE and it’s GYM – two words that’s enough to convince me, haha! Tsk, gained a lot of excess weight during December and I feel a lot bigger. EUGH.
• I tried YOGA. Which reiterated the fact that I AM SO UNFIT. LOL, na-stretch every muscle ko, and I can’t even carry myself for a long time XD very very very very challenging. OOOMMMMMMMM…
• DURING this free trial at the gym, it’s like I’ve become a star★. Just kidding! Anyhoooo, I saw these stars: Amy Austria, Kris Aquino and family (James Yap and two kids), Edu Manzano and Dingdong Dantes (I got to bike beside Dingdong Dantes – I feel giddy even if I don’t have a crush on him or anything, haha!) Naisip ko tuloy, lahat pala sila nagtatago sa EdsaShang, hahaha! Oh the life! I am starstrucked.
• I got to watch a CONCERT BY DEAFs. Okay, so this didn’t happen on February but it was an awesome feeling, watching the deaf people dance MUCH better than I can. HAHAHA.
• I watched DLSU’s Street dance troupe’s concert: DANZ DISH 4. Maybe you’ve heard about this? They won the Skecher’s Street Dance Competition, I think. Well, the concert was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. If you’re wondering (I know, you’re NOT wondering) if I can dance, well I probably “can” (cause everybody can, right?) but I wouldn’t say that it’s even watchable. Go figure.
• Went to Nueva Ecija last Sunday. An almost 6-hour drive, just so we can finish our LTS (Literacy Training Service) where we teach children, well, literacy. It was nice, I got to meet two really energetic kids, Aiki and Darryl, PLUS they’re both so sweet – they bought me chewing gum!

• I fangirled on DEMI LOVATO. I find her so pretty and uniquely talented. She has a very nice and strong voice, and I love her song s. I think I like the song “Until You’re Mine” the best, try it out! Go pick your favorite!:D

There, that’s it so far. AND so, as a tribute to Valentine’s, I made a spur of the moment rant-tips-guide-like thingy, HAHA:

• YES to flowers – one stemmed flower, bouquets, or petals scattered on a walkway, YES YOU MUST.
• NO to Blue Magic items! eugh, whatever you do, DON’T visit Blue Magic for a Valentine’s day gift! Not only is it absolutely cliched, a lot of other girls/guys might receive the same presents you give YOUR girl/guy. Now that’d be annoying.
• YES to even the most laos (always gone to) romantic places for a Valentine’s date. Picnic in a park, dinner at a cozy outdoor restaurant, walk by the beach and watch the sunset, OR you could take her to a place that means a lot to only the both of you, to let her know you remember and still feel the same way (if not more) about her.
• NO to movie watching on Valentine’s. It’s a day to redeclare your love for each other, go out and BE SEEN together :)
• YES to surprises. The treasure hunt, eyes covered, “I forgot” gimmick. Go with anything, it’ll be much sweeter. Not a must, but it’s always an option ;)
• Walk by the beach and watch the sunset together.
• Eat fishball and do wacky photobooths shots together.
• Play at Timezone and feed each other a dozen flavors of icecream. I know, ang normal dating gigs, haha.
• NO fighting.
• No to double dates. Wala lang.
• Yes to personalized stuff. It’s always okay to be unique.
• May car sana para pwedeng mag-stay out late.
• Naligo sana para mabango. ANO DAW?!
